How to Make Sesame Modak Recipe

  • 1 Cup Sesame Seeds.
  • 1 Cup Rice Flour.
  • 1 Cup Jaggery.
  • ½ tsp Cardamom Powder.
  • Water as per requirement.
  • ½ tsp Ghee.
  • Pinch of Salt.
  • Extra Ghee for Greasing.


  • Dry roast sesame seeds till it releases good aroma.
  • Cool it down and make fine powder of it.
  • Add jaggery and cardamom powder in sesame powder, again blend it well.
  • Make small balls from the mixture.
  • Heat water and bring it to boil.
  • Add rice flour to it and stir it well.
  • Cover it and keep it a side.
  • Knead crack free dough from it and make eleven equal size of balls from dough.
  • Roll puri from the dough balls.
  • Put balls made earlier at the centre of puri and bring all edges together and give modak shape to it.
  • Steam modak in a steamer for around 8-10 minutes.
  • Serve it hot or cold as you wish.
