How to Make Vrat ki Thali | Fasting Recipes | Upvas Recipe.

Hello friends today here we are with a very healthy and delicious Indian fasting recipe which is known as vrat ki thali. Thali means nothing but couple of different dishes served in a plate. Here we have made dry potato curry, puri and banana raita for this thali which tastes really very delicious and yum. This main course recipe looks very simple but tastes really awesome and you can make it any time during the as it don’t require much time to cook.

Mainly it is prepared from kuttu flour, sighara flour, curd or yogurt, boiled potatoes, banana and some other spices. In India people make this kind of food for fasting during the festivals like Navratri and janmashtmi. With being delicious and tempting this Upvas recipe is also very healthy nutritious too. Along with this you may also like some other fasting recipes like faraIi patties, fox nut snack, Rajgira pooris, sago salty snack, kuttu flour pakora etc…….

Ingredients for Vrat ki Thali:

Main Ingredients:

1.25 Cup Kuttu Flour.
¼ Cup Singhara Flour.
1 Cup Curd or Yogurt.
5-6 Small Boiled Potatoes.
1 Banana.

Other Spices/Ingredients:

¼ tsp Black Pepper Powder.
1 Pinch Cardamom Powder.
½ tsp Cumin Seeds.
1 Finely Chopped Green Chilli.
1 Inch Finely Chopped Ginger.
1 ½ tsp Powdered Sugar.
Some Finely Chopped Coriander Leaves.
Sendha Namak or Rock Salt as per taste.
1 tbsp Oil or Ghee for Potato Gravy.
Oil for frying puris.

Vrat ki Thali Preparations:

  • First put powdered sugar in curd and keep aside, now take both the flours in a big bowl then grate one potato in flour.
  • Now add in some sendha namak and mix well then put some water in flour mixture and knead dough from it and keep aside.
  • Now heat oil in a pan, chop the boiled potatoes in small pieces, when oil gets heated add in cumin seeds, black pepper powder, ginger, green chillies and mix well.
  • Now add in potatoes and mix well with all the spices, now add in salt, coriander leaves and again mix well.
  • Cook the potato gravy for little time then turn the heat off and keep the potato gravy covered aside.
  • Now for making puri make small balls from kneaded dough then roll it on dry flour.
  • Now roll out the small size of puri from balls, make all the puris ready similarly.
  • Now heat oil in kadai for frying puris, when oil gets heated put puris one by one in for frying.
  • Fry the puris till become light golden brown then take out in a plate, fry all the puris similarly.
  • Now for making riata take the curd and mix well as we added powdered sugar in earlier.
  • Now add in chopped banana and cardamom powder and mix well, so raita is also ready.
  • Now take a thali and put potato gravy, puri and riata and serve the delicious fasting food and enjoy.
