Ingredients for Tomato Rice Recipe:

Main Ingredients:

2 Cup Cooked Boiled Basmati Rice.
1 Onion Slices Chopped.
1 Small Finely Chopped Tomato.
½ Cup Tomato Puree.

Other Spices/Ingredients:

1 tbsp Tamarind Pulp.
1 tsp Cumin Seeds.
1 tsp Mustard Seeds.
2 Dry Chillies.
1 Star Anise.
1 Bay Leaf.
Few Curry Leaves.
¼ tsp Turmeric Powder.
1 tsp Red Chilli Powder.
1 tsp Cumin Powder.
1 tsp Coriander Powder.
2 tsp Sambar Masala.
Salt to Taste.
2 tbsp Oil.

Garnishing/Serving:

Few Chopped Coriander Leaves.

Tomato Rice Recipe Preparations:

  • Heat oil in a non stick pan, once oil get heated add cumin seeds and mustard, give tadka to it.
  • Add dry red chilli, star anise, bay leaf and stir it well.
  • Add onion, curry leaves, stir it well and cook it till onion become soft.
  • Add tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, sambar masala, salt and tamarind pulp.
  • Mix all the ingredients well and cook it for few minutes.
  • Add cooked rice gently, mix it slowly-slowly and cook it for around 3 minutes.
  • Delicious tomato rice is ready to serve, garnish it with coriander leaves.
