Soya Chunks Gravy | Soya Chunks in Indian Gravy.

Hello friends today here we are with a very simple, easy and delicious Indian curry recipe which is well known as soya chunks gravy. It is really very healthy curry rich in proteins, vitamins and other nutrients. Mainly it is prepared from soya chunks, soya granules, tomato, curd, fried onions and some other spices. It’s a spices based curry and thus requires more spices than other regular curries and gives a unique and pleasant taste.

All the required ingredients to make this quick soya chunks gravy are very simple and commonly available in grocery shops and markets. You can prepare this soya chunks curry for your lunch or dinner and have it with roti, paratha, naan or kulcha whichever you like. Along with this you may also like some other healthy and delicious curries like moong dal vadi gravy, dahi aloo curry, soya wadi curry etc……..

Ingredients for Soya Chunks Gravy:

Main Ingredients:

50 gm Soya Chunks.
3 tbsp Soya Granules.
1 Medium Size Chopped Tomato.
50 gm Whipped Curd.
2 Medium Size Deep Fried Onions.
1 tbsp Curd.
4-5 Cashew Nuts.

Other Spices/Ingredients:

2 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste.
3 Green Cardamoms.
1 Myristica fragrans or Javintri.
3 tbsp Oil or Ghee.
1 Inch Cinnamon Stick.
3-4 Black Peppercorns.
3 Cloves.
1 Star Anise.
1 Bay Leaf.
1 Black Cardamom.
½ tsp Turmeric Powder.
½ tsp Red Chilli Powder.
½ tsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder.
1 tsp Coriander Powder.
Salt according to taste.
1 tsp Garam Masala.

Garnishing:

2 Dry Red Chillies.
Some Fried Onions.

Soya Chunks Gravy Preparations:

  • First put soya chunks in lukewarm water along with salt and keep aside for 10-15 minutes.
  • Now put the soya granules in lukewarm water for 10-15 minutes.
  • After 10-15 minutes take out the soya chunks and soya granules from water and press gently with hands so excess water will be removed and keep both in separate bowls.
  • Now heat oil in a kadai and fry the soya chunks then take out in a bowl.
  • Now take a mixer jar and put in fried onions, cashew nuts, 1 tbsp curd and grind it to make paste.
  • Now heat oil and ghee both in a kadai then add in green cardamom, Myristica fragrans, bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, star anise, black peppercorns and black cardamom.
  • While adding spices keep the heat low so spices can release nice fragrant in oil and don’t get burnt.
  • Now add in whipped curd and lower the flame, cover and cook for it till curd releases ghee or moisture of curd get evaporated.
  • Now add in ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, kashmiri red chilli powder, salt and saute all the spices and ingredients for few minutes.
  • Now add in curd and fried onions paste made earlier along with soya granules and cook it for little time.
  • Now add in soya chunks, tomatoes and water as per required, cover and cook it till gravy releases oil.
  • When gravy releases oil or oil comes on top open the lead and add in garam masala again cover and cook for 1 minute.
  • After 1 minute turn the heat off and take out the delicious soya chunks gravy in a serving plate and garnish it with some fried onions and dry red chillies.
  • You can serve this delicious curry with roti, naan or kulcha and enjoy.
