You can have this alone with just raw onion or with chutneys or any other curries, main ingredient of this recipe is besan or gram flour and other ingredients or spices are very common and simple. Ingredients for Masala Pudla:

Main Ingredients:

150 gm Besan or Gram Flour.
1 small finely Chopped Onion

Spices / Other Ingredients:

1 tsp Garlic Paste.
1 tsp Ginger Paste.
1 tsp Asafetida or Hing.
1 tsp Coriander and Cumin Seeds Powder.
9 tsp Oil.
½ tsp Red Chili Powder.
Some Freshly Chopped Coriander Leaves.
Salt to Taste.

Garnishing / Serving:

½ Onion.
Chutney of your choice.

Masala Pudla Preparations:

  • Put besan or gram flour in a big mixing bowl.
  • Add garlic paste, Asafetida, coriander and cumin seeds powder, onion, salt, some freshly chopped coriander leaves and graded ginger.
  • Mix all the Ingredients very well.
  • Add little water and mix it.
  • Do the above until you get the desire level of batter.
  • Add red chili powder and mix it nicely.
  • Heat the tawa or griddle.
  • Put little batter at centre of tawa.
  • Shape it round (you can shape it as you like).
  • Put oil around the pudla.
  • Separate the edges and turn the side.
  • Put little bit of oil on to the Pudla.
  • Cook each side for 1 min.
  • Turn the side and cook it at medium low heat for 1 min.
  • Take it out and cook remaining Pudla’s similarly.
  • Serve it with half onion and chutney of your choice.
