How to Make Khichu | Mexican Khichu Recipe | Street Food.

Hello friends today here we are with one another Mexican food recipe which is known as khichu. Mainly it is prepared from cooked American corn kernels, corn flour, cheese and some other spices. This is really very simple and easy to make street food recipe plus requires very less time to cook is well. In Indian khichu is a traditional gujarati snacks recipe and exclusively available at street food shops and carts and also people make it at home oftenly.

All the required ingredients to make this quick Mexican food dish are very simple and commonly available in grocery shops and markets. With being super duper delicious this is also very good for health so you can make it for your kids without being worried. Ingredients for Khichu:

Main Ingredients:

2-3 tbsp Cooked American Corn Kernels.
1 Cup Corn Flour.
1 Cube of Cheese.
3 Cup Water.

Other Spices/Ingredients:

1 tbsp Green Chilli Paste.
¼ tsp Cooking Soda.
½ tsp Mix Herbs.
1 tsp Red Chilli Powder.
1/8 tsp Turmeric Powder.
Salt as per taste.

Garnishing:

Some Groundnut Oil.
Some Cheese.
Some Cooked American Corn Kernels.

Khichu Preparations:

  • First heat water in pan, when water starts boiling put green chilli paste and mix herbs.
  • Now add in salt, corn kernels, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and let them boil for little time.
  • When water stats boiling and all the ingredients get boiled lower the heat and add in cooking soda.
  • Now increase the flame of gas and cover and cook for 1 minute.
  • After one minute add in corn flour and mix well with rolling pin or spoon then grate the cheese cube and put in boiling mixture.
  • Now cook the khichu for 2-3 minutes at medium flame, after 2-3 minutes turn the heat off.
  • Now take a bowl and first put some cooked kernels then put the cooked kheechu and press gently then un-mould it in a serving plate.
  • Now garnish it with some cooked corn kernels, mix herbs, groundnut oil and finally give it nice impression of red chilli powder using folk spoon and serve.
