How to Make Instant Semolina Appam.

Instant semolina appam is one of the delicious south Indian snacks recipe. as the name suggests it’s an instant cook dish which you can make in just quick time without waiting for more. Mainly it is prepared from semolina or rawa, some vegetables and some spices. Usually south Indians prepare this for morning breakfast and have with coconut chutney or tomato ketchup but you can also have it with any other chutney of your choice.

This quick instant semolina appam is really very simple and easy to make plus it is healthy too. You can prepare this for your kids, family and friends and serve them a healthy breakfast or you can also make this for evening snacks is well. Along with this you may also like rawa upma, spicy idiyappam, heart shape idli and much more here. So let’s start making this yummy tummy south Indian breakfast.

Ingredients for Instant Semolina Appam:

Main Ingredients:

150 gm Semolina or Rawa.
2 tbsp Finely Chopped Onions.
2 tbsp Finely Chopped Carrot.
2 tbsp Finely Chopped Capsicum.
2 tbsp Finely Chopped Tomatoes.

Other Spices/Ingredients:

2 tbsp Ginger Garlic Chilli Paste.
2-3 tbsp Sour Curd.
Salt according to taste.
Some Finely Chopped Coriander Leaves..
½ tsp Cooking Soda.

For Tadka:

1 tsp Oil.
1 tsp Mustard Seeds.
6-7 Curry Leaves.
2 tsp Urad Dal.

Instant Semolina Appam Preparations:

  • First of all in a mixing bowl add in carrot, capsicum, onion, tomatoes, ginger garlic chilli paste, coriander leaves and semolina.
  • Now add in sour curd, salt and water as per required and mix well to make thick batter from it.
  • Now add in cooking soda mix well and keep aside.
  • Now for making tadka, heat oil in a nonstick pan, add in mustard seeds and wait till it starts slathering.
  • Now add in urad dal along with curry leaves and cook it for few seconds, tadka is ready.
  • Now put the tadka in appam batter prepared from veggies and mix well.
  • Now take one paniyarm pan and heat on medium flame, now put around 1 tbsp batter on pan and cook it till become nice golden brown both the sides.
  • Take out the appam in a serving plate and serve with coconut chutney or tomato ketchup.
