Gujarati Gathiya Recipe | Besan Snack Recipe.

Gujarati Gathiya is a well known as Breakfast snacks. it is prepared of gram flour molded into twisted rope (Vanela in Gujarati) as well as deep fried. Here is the recipe for how to make gathiya at home.

Main Ingredients:

Half kg of  gram flour or Besan or Chickpeas flour.

Spices / Other Ingredients:

3 tsp of Ajwain.
3 tsp crushed black peppers.
12 tsp Oil
1 tsp of  Soda Bicarbonate (Gathiya Na Soda).
Water.
Oil for frying.
Salt to taste.

Garnishing / Serving:

Fried Green Chillies.
Papaya Chutney.

Gujarati Gathiya Preparations:

  • In a big mixing bowl put gram flour or besan.
  • Add black pepper, ajwain, salt according to taste and 6 tsp of oil.
  • Mix all the ingredients very well.
  • Add water as per the requirement (Don’t add water at once).
  • Bind it and make rubber like stretchable dough.
  • After making dough knead it with 3 tsp oil until your dough don’t break.
  • Take little dough dip it in oil and put it on flat wood.
  • Press it with your palm and roll a long and thick gathiya.
  • Make all the gathiya’s similarly.
  • Heat oil.
  • In medium hot oil fry your gathiya (Make sure that your oil should not be very hot).
  • Cook it for few minutes at a very low heat.
  • Take it out.
  • Serve this very special Gujarati dish with Papaya Chutney or any other chutney of your choice and some fried green chillies.
